ABSTRACT

In Chapter 4, where we discussed sampling, we pointed out that, since the primary sampling decision was taken at the level of the school, it could be argued that we should be thinking in terms of a sample of schools rather than a sample of pupils. Thus, in Chapter 7, where we presented the general trend of our results, we set these out not only for samples of pupils in each strategy, but also, in Tables 7.5, 7.6 and 7.7, for the samples of schools.
