In the book Success against the Odds (Routledge, 1996) a study on effective schools in disadvantaged areas, under the auspices of the National Commission on Education, the account of Blaengwrach School concluded with the following remarks:

In June 1998 the school was inspected and in the main findings of the report produced by the inspectors the following comment was made: ‘Blaengwrach Primary is a very good school which contributes greatly to the academic and social development of its pupils and enriches their lives significantly.’ In its remarks on key issues for action the report concludes: ‘There are no significant weaknesses. The school needs to maintain its current high standards and further disseminate the very good practice.’
