ABSTRACT

I believe that a high-quality design and technology education is essential for all school pupils no matter where in the world they might be. Having said ‘all’, this chapter is written for teachers of pupils of all ages – from the early years in which play, imagination and development of ‘self’ are the building blocks for the years ahead; through the primary years, in which an integrated curriculum and growth in skills and environmental awareness are valued; into the secondary years, in which pathways to future education and employment begin to emerge.
