ABSTRACT

The subject of this book encourages me to discuss didactic presentation concretely rather than in ideal or theoretical terms. I have chosen to concentrate on the experiences of the Archaeological and Ethnographical Museum in Lódz, an institution with more than 50 years of experience. I have disregarded the coexistence of the archaeological and ethnographical components of the museum (which are somewhat different but complementary), and I also omit discussion of the mass media, since it has never tried to play a constructive role in promoting archaeology in Poland. Instead, I concentrate on the Lódz Museum’s role in the presentation of prehistory and early history.
