ABSTRACT

Pharmacology Pure ethanol (CH3CH2OH, m.w=46.06) is a clear, colourless liquid with a characteristic but weak odour and a strong, burning taste. At a concentration of 95.6 per cent by weight, alcohol and water form an azeotropic mixture with a minimum boiling point of 78.15°C. Density of ethanol at 20°C is 0.78934 and melting point of absolute ethanol is −114°C.
