ABSTRACT
There is a widely held assumption that sense perceptions are a sort of dirty window between us and reality, obscuring the way the world actually is. Beyond this obscuring screen of fallible perceptions and subjective impressions there is believed to be a reality of enduring substances and processes that can best be revealed by the methods of objective research.
