ABSTRACT

Jenny is a teacher in the special needs department of a large city comprehensive school She did an initial training course primarily in special education, unlike most teachers entering special education who have no additional qualifications beyond their teaching certificate, but who may take a diploma in special education after they have been teaching for a while. Jenny’s first job was in a day school for maladjusted children, where she worked for three years. She describes here the twists and turns in her career.
