ABSTRACT

J.T.Cobb Elementary School in Michigan, USA, opened in 1976. It takes nonhandicapped children from the age of six to twelve and handicapped children from the age of two and a half to thirteen. It was purpose-built to foster the mainstreaming of physically handicapped and hearing impaired children. By June 1978, out of a total school roll of 650 pupils, 80 were physically handicapped and 37 hearing impaired.
