ABSTRACT
From his review of the first volume. Little is known about Lowe, who was a regular contributor to the Monthly Review between 1808 and 1815. Originally engaged in business, he abandoned this in favour of authorship after the success of his reply in 1806 to Brougham’s pamphlet on the state of the nation. He contributed to the Edinburgh Review and the Athenaeum.
