From Rejected Addresses, or The New Theatrum Poetarum by the brothers James and Horace Smith, first published in 1812. The text and notes were considerably revised for later editions and are reprinted here from the 18th edition of 1833, the last which the authors supervised. Alterations from the first edition are listed in the reprint edited by Andrew Boyle (1929).
