ABSTRACT
This chapter arises from a joint presentation by myself and Christine LovellJones at WAC 3 in New Delhi. I thank Christine for much productive debate on the issues discussed, and Bob Layton for encouraging me to pursue this topic. Figure 14.2 was conceived in discussion with Heather Burke and Becky Morphy, both of whom commented on drafts of this chapter. Lisa Meekison and Danielle Davis also made very useful comments.
