ABSTRACT

Two radical and complex revolutions have characterized the Jewish people in the post-Second World War, post-Holocaust, period. The first is more conspicuous and well known-the establishment of the Jewish State of Israel, the immigration and integration of over 1.5 million immigrants from diverse Jewish communities around the world, and the social-economic-political-cultural development of Israeli society. The impact of the State of Israel on the condition of the Jewish people world-wide has been, and continues to be, overwhelming; and can be described accurately as a critical turning point in Jewish history. The State of Israel is the ideological, cultural, emotional and historical centre of Jewish peoplehood.
