THE EFFECT OF INDIVIDUAL CHARACTERISTICS AND OF PARAMETRIC AND NON-PARAMETRIC APPROACHES ON JOB DURATION IN JAPAN

Labour mobility is one of the most important subjects of labour economists. To be concerned with labour mobility suggests the necessity of being concerned with labour immobility. This chapter investigates employees who have not changed their employers in Japan. Specifically, the chapter estimates job durations in Japan by using the Employment Status Survey. Needless to say, job duration signifies that employees stayed with one employer during the period, and thus we focus on immobile employees.
