ABSTRACT
Epidemiology There is now little doubt that the prevalence of atopy and allergic disease has risen worldwide. The International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood (ISAAC) has clearly shown that there was a 20-fold difference in reported asthma symptoms worldwide and that the prevalence of asthma is highest in Englishspeaking countries, including the UK, Ireland and New Zealand.
