ABSTRACT
A 76-year-old woman was admitted to the emergency department because of focal motor status epilepticus consisting of clonic activity of the left face, arm and leg. On admission the patient was stuporous. The patient was treated intravenously with clonazepam and phenytoin, which stopped the focal motor activity. However, the patient developed a left-sided hemiplegia and remained stuporous.
