Gene therapy can be broadly defined as a therapeutic transfer of genetic material in some cells of a patient. Most frequently, this genetic material corresponds to the coding sequences of a gene (cDNA). The objective of the gene transfer is either to correct a mutation-related gene defect or to bring a new function to the cells.
