ABSTRACT

For the past three decades, lasers have enhanced the management of glaucomatous eyes. By modifying intraocular tissues while preserving surrounding ocular structures, the need for more invasive surgical procedures is often postponed or obviated. Lasers assist with intraocular pressure (IOP) control by either enhancing filtration (as with trabeculoplasty, iridotomy, iridoplasty, and sclerotomy) or by reducing aqueous production (as with cyclophotocoagulation).
