ABSTRACT
Trabeculectomy, or guarded filtration surgery, is the surgical procedure most commonly used to control intraocular pressure (IOP) in glaucomatous patients. Filtration surgery lowers the IOP by creating a fistula between the anterior chamber and the subconjunctival space. This leads to the accumulation of fluid below the conjunctiva, creating a filtering bleb (Figure 13.1).
