ABSTRACT

Based on several large studies, the normal IOP is usually defined as 10-21 mmHg (Figure 3.1). In non-glaucomatous people, the average IOP is roughly 16 mmHg, with a standard deviation of 2.5. However, since many openangle glaucoma patients have IOPs in this normal range either on screening or at all times when measured, a raised IOP is not necessary for diagnosing openangle glaucoma (OAG).
