ABSTRACT

Citrus fruits are grown in the world both in the Northern and Southern hemisphere, in the zones between 40° North and 40° South latitude; for this reason commercial productive zones are numerous and each with its own management problems concerning abiotic and biotic diseases. Owing to the diversity of soil, climate, variety, rootstocks, methods of cultivation and social economic situations, problems are different. Therefore information about any single pest and disease will be limited, while the methods and means of control will be illustrated as basic concepts. The choice of methods and means of management must be better taken care of because there is always a greater demand of a global quality of fruit, which must not only focus on the external and internal characteristics of the fruit but also on other parameters, among which the absence of residue treatments and the nutrition value. Market globalization involves the concentration of demand and supply and consequently, the uniformity of methods of production.
