ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION In any profession there will be entrepreneurs who are willing to extend their activities. Such “trail blazers” are necessary to show the way for the rank and file of the profession. Often they will have studied the opportunities available to them and will have been working with members of other professions. Some may have undertaken a formal course of training outside the norm for their profession, although this is not often the case. Usually it is their sense of purpose and sheer enthusiasm for what they are doing which carries them through, and they are often therefore at the forefront of professional development.
