The Media Teacher’s Handbook is the first book to draw together the three key elements of secondary sector teaching in relation to media study – the theoretical, the practical and the professional in order to support media teachers throughout their careers. Therefore, the book is divided into three broad sections: Contexts, Curriculum and Career development as it is intended to support teachers at all stages of their careers: from student-and newlyqualified teachers to experienced media teachers intending to become, or recently appointed, head of department. It will also support tutors and mentors working with inexperienced teachers during professional preparation and induction and those with responsibility for continuing professional development in schools, universities and local authorities. As well as providing practical advice on curricula and pedagogy, the book will support PGCE students, NQTs and colleagues following Masters-level courses in universities and schools.
