ABSTRACT

The total investment in overall construction reached approximately 61.5 trillion yen (410 billion US dollars) for 1987, which was less than the EC+ EFTA (not completed) level of 67 trillion yen, but more than the US level of 60 trillion yen as shown in the figure on p. 192. For 1989 the Japanese investment is expected to amount to 73 trillion yen and for 1990 to reach 77 trillion yen with less then 40 per cent for civil engineering projects and more than 60 per cent for the building and housing projects.
