ABSTRACT

First, the performance of the conventional pump was studied in an actual power steering system. FIGURE 5 shows the outlet flow rate, Q0 , and the operating pressure, P0 in a non-steering condition. This pump delivers fluid in proportion to the pump speed, N. Over 600 rpm, Q0 is regulated to about 8 ~/min. From this experimental result, it is evident that the operating pressure, Po, affecting the pump driving torque is about 0. 5 MPa in non-steering operation.
