ABSTRACT

How does Intel ensure that solutions are not only shared, but also implemented at different sites? The system Intel has created is referred to internally as a “Virtual Factory.” This system assumes that all factories have some commonality, enough to share solutions and implementations. Intel has driven this Virtual Factory philosophy into all aspects of our business: engineering, safety, and manufacturing. Ergonomic solutions are developed, validated, and implemented across all manufacturing facilities using this system. The result is that a solution can be “copy exactly” across multiple sites, thereby eliminating re-inventing the wheel.
