ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION Obstetrics and gynecology is a medical and surgical specialty involving many situations that require frequent consultations with a hematologist with a special interest in thrombosis and hemostasis. Emergency situations include postpartum hemorrhagic shock, disseminated intravascular coagulopathy, and thromboembolic phenomena. Common non-urgent medical conditions include hemoglobinopathies, thrombocytopenias, and inherited coagulopathies.
