Psychology in Indonesia
Sarlito W. Sarwono graduated as a professional psychologist in 1968 and received a doctorate in psychology in 1978 from the University of Indonesia, Jakarta. He received a postgraduate diploma in community development from the University of Edinburgh and nondegree training in the methodology of social psychology at the University of Leiden, the Netherlands. He is currently dean of the Faculty of Psychology, University of Indonesia, and a professor at the National Institute of Police Sciences; he has been a visiting professor at Cornell University and the University of Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Sarlito Sarwono’s fields of research and practice are social and clinical psychology. He is a member of the Indonesian Psychological Association, Indonesian Sexology Association, American Psychological Association, International Association of Applied Psychology, and International Council of Psychologists. He is the author of 20 books and hundreds of journal, magazine, and newspaper articles on various topics in
psychology (history of psychology, adolescence, the family, sexuality, and social psychology).
