ABSTRACT

During the past two decades there has been a surge of interest in continent urinary diversion, most reports being of the Kock, Indiana and Mainz pouch-type procedures, There has been a particular interest in continent diversion in Morocco where incontinent diversions have been poorly accepted, primarily because of the cost of complex appliances and the difficulties of social reintegration for the patients. Hence, in 1975, a hydraulic ileal valve system was developed which is adaptable for use with various types of urinary reservoir. This chapter discusses the construction of this system and results of its use with 28 years of follow-up.
