The ‘ALLOT’ (‘A Land Location and Optimization Technique’; name and programming are copyrighted) model is a flexible computer model which has been designed to develop economically and environmentally sound alternative land development patterns in a short period of time. ALLOT has the potential to drastically change the way that land use planning is conducted, since it has the capability to allow the incorporation of a wide variety of previously ignored environmental characteristics and up-to-date land use patterns.
