Work Addicts’ Attributions about Company-Supplied Smartphones
The importance of quality human resource (HR) management is not merely a matter of establishing the right practices. Research has shown that positive outcomes depend on how those practices are interpreted by employees. If employees assign meaning to HR actions and decisions that are contrary to that intended by the organization, it may lead to employee reactions that are contrary to that organization’s strategy and related objectives. Supplying smartphones to employees is one current issue and one decision shown in recent research to exact a variety of interpretations. While work addicts-identifi ed here through measure of perfectionism-did not show signifi cant variation from other employees in larger statistical analysis, fi ner analysis of specifi c sub-categories of responses gives some suggestion for topics that are worth additional research attention.
