ABSTRACT
The term ‘class strategies’ (Ball 2003) refers to the ways in which individuals act to protect, consolidate or advance their class position whilst consciously or unconsciously excluding members of other social classes. I am therefore not just using class in its economic or occupational sense (although these are important) but also as defined and formed through processes of inclusion or exclusion. This includes the ways in which the benefits of adult education are accumulated.
