ABSTRACT
The chapter introduces the general reader to some important issues in the field of economic methodology. In the first section, methodological work is defended against some common criticisms. The relationship between methodology and such disciplines as philosophy, sociology of science, and rhetoric is explored in the second section. Three areas worthy of further study are highlighted in the third section.
