ABSTRACT

There have been occasions when I have sat at my desk and smiled to myself as colleagues from other departments come into the Information Service with customers on a whirlwind tour-‘And this is the Library. The information team here find information for us. Very handy’—and with that they are gone. I write this not by way of criticism of my colleagues but to illustrate that quite often the Information Service sits very quietly and modestly within the parent organisation with no one fully appreciating what the information team is capable of contributing.
