A comprehensive evaluation of athletic footwear in general should consist of a combination of sensory/perceptual, biomechanical and mechanical testing procedures (Lafortune, 2001). Each of these testing procedures provides by itself important insight with regard to the properties of athletic shoes. Nevertheless, it is justified to assume that there is an interdependent relationship between the different ways of testing as well as between the data gathered from it. Therefore, when data that are collected by these different sources are interpreted concurrently, the knowledge benefit should be increased.
