ABSTRACT

This section introduces the concept of contextualization as well as explaining standardization in the LO context. The problems of contextualization when designing LOs for reuse are presented. The relationship between context and metadata schema and standards is discussed, followed by a description of a tool that aids in the contextualization of learning. The benefits of a reference architecture are suggested, followed by a discussion of the issues related to the management of learning object metadata and describing a Learning Object Metadata Management System (LOMMS).
