ABSTRACT
This chapter is based on my experience as part-time manager of the Self Assessment in Professional and Higher Education project (SAPHE). It covers various issues relating to developing collaboration including: getting started; reviewing the bid and clarifying the allocation of funding; monitoring progress; the external evaluator; managing more senior colleagues and using your authority as a project manager; whether the project counts as proper research; and bringing it all together.
