In this chapter I want to discuss three questions: How are TIE programmes to be evaluated and by whom? What are TIE companies accountable for? I want to look at these general questions by considering first some characteristics of TIE and some of the functions of evaluation. I then want to look at what is involved in evaluating an arts-based programme in general and TIE in particular, outlining an approach.
