ABSTRACT

SODRE SODRE (Servicio Oficial de Radio, Television y Espectaculos) was created in 1929 in Montevideo, Uruguay, under the aegis of the Ministry of Education and Culture. Its first radio station (CX6) has continued since then to transmit classical music on short and long wave. It now includes a number of radio stations, an open television channel retransmitting to most chan nels in the country, a symphony orchestra, a chamber group, a ballet company and several libraries of records, film, the spoken word, music, photography and video.
