ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION T HIS P LAY, though popular on the stage, was published late, being entered in the Stationers' Register on 6 October 1621, to Thomas Walkley as 'The Tragedie of Othello, the moore of Venice'. A Quarto appeared in 1622, with authorship attributed to William Shakespeare; the first Folio in 1623. A second Quarto (1630) was apparently based on FI with emendations from QI.
