ABSTRACT

NO early Quarto of this play is known. Registered in the Stationers' Register on 8 November 1623 along with fifteen other plays 'as are not formerly entered to other men', it was printed in Fi at the end of the Comedies. It had been set up from a transcript by Ralph Crane made either from a playhouse text, players' parts, or Shakespeare's foul papers. The result was a good text, with Act and Scene divisions marked, and with most of the characters in a scene listed at the beginning.1
