ABSTRACT
Although the term ‘automation’ is often used to refer to sample preparation when discussing bioanalysis, we should remember that analysing a biological sample typically involves the following processes:
• sample preparation, e.g. sorting, defrosting, aliquoting; • preparation of calibration and QC samples; • sample extraction; • chromatography/analysis; • data handling; • reporting.
