ABSTRACT
Michael Singer’s presentation (titled “Map of Memory”), given at the
“Contemporary Landscapes of Contemplation” symposium, University of
Minnesota, October 18, 2002 was used as a framework for this essay. The
presentation was videotaped. This essay also incorporates an interview, that
was taped with Michael Singer by Rebecca Krinke, held at his studio in
Vermont on January 4, 2004. The essay/interview was transcribed and drafted
by Krinke and edited collaboratively by Singer and Krinke for clarity and length.
