In Part 2 we examine theories about learning and their influence on views of the

goals of science education and how to achieve them. The readings selected have

either had a significant influence on the direction of science learning or raise chal-

lenges for the future. Each of the theoretical perspectives considered offers a view

of what is significant in understanding the nature of the human ‘mind’ and the

teaching and learning process.
