To those who think that sport is worth a philosophy and think it should be in the core of an educational curriculum, it must be axiomatic that the practice of sport is good and that it is in and of itself an education. We might even want to say that sport unites in a special way the good, the true and the beautiful: that to play well in a fine game is to exercise and express something of the best in us and to experience an activity for which any substitute would be hard to find and perhaps impossible to contrive.
