Motivating and rewarding managers

There is surprisingly little direct information in the literature on management motivation in Africa, although there is increasing documentation of the introduction of ‘modern’ reward systems, and evidence to suggest that many organizations are introducing pay and promotion systems that are related to performance (Kamoche, 2000). Often, when such systems are introduced, this is done first at managerial levels, with the expectation that this will then filter down through the organization to include all employees. However, there is also evidence to suggest there is still a lack of a system for pay and promotion in many organizations.
