ABSTRACT
The nature of critical illness predisposes to renal failure. Although the renal system is complex, understanding it can explain many of the symptoms patients present with (Challinor, 1998). This chapter will discuss the common causes of renal failure in the critically ill, and current methods of medical and nursing management.
