Ayurveda, the Indian System of Medicine (ISM), may be the least well known of the complete systems of medicine in the West, despite being one of the oldest. According to the definition used by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM),
World Health Organization (WHO), and other organizations, Ayurveda qualifies as a complementary and alternative medicine (CAM).
