Data from the World Health Organization (WHO) suggest that as many as 1 in 20 people at some point in their lives have an epileptic seizure and that at least 1 in 200 people have epilepsy.
Over four fifths of the 50 million people with epilepsy are thought to be in developing countries, and 90% of these people do not receive appropriate treatment.
