ABSTRACT
The study of word-processing impairments has a long history in cognitive neuropsychology. Various theoretical frameworks have been used to account for mechanisms underlying word retrieval and their breakdown in aphasia. In this chapter, I will review some recent accounts of word processing and its impairment that have been framed within interactive activation (IA) models of word processing.
