ABSTRACT

Throughout history, teams have played a central role in society. From early hunters, to sports settings, to common organizational tasks, the use of teams has allowed humans to perform feats that individuals working alone could not accomplish. Furthermore, recent technological advances and the globalization of organizations have contributed to a transformation in the nature of work, exemplified by the modern organization’s extensive dependence on teams. Also, teams can contribute to an organization by increasing organizational productivity. One suggested reason for this increased productivity is based on the view that a team’s ability is the compilation of knowledge, skills, attitudes, and experiences of each of the team’s members, thus, providing a greater tool kit from which the team may draw.
